NY eats and more!

Visiting Nicole in NYC was great! I went to a couple of places I was excited for and some unexpected ones too. But first, I have to tell you about a great chicken recipe.

You have to like garlic to make Chicken with 40 Cloves of Garlic. It's a pretty simple recipe with only about 10 ingredients, but it's so good! It's an Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa) recipe.

I served it with oven-roasted veggies on the side. I just cut up potatoes, sweet potatoes, and carrots and season them with salt, pepper, italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Coat with a bit of olive oil, and bake for about 30 min. at 375. Very good!

When I was in NY, we were going to go kayaking on the Hudson, but the forecast called for rain, so we went to Chelsea Market instead. It was fun! I bought a strawberry granola nut mix, along with some sesame and poppy seeds from nutbox . The prices were great! We got hungry after seeing all the food at Chelsea Market, so we stopped at one of the restaurants called Ronnybrook Dairy. At first glance, it looks just like an ice cream shop, but they had great lunch items on the menu. Nicole ordered a sandwich with spinach and mozzarella, and I went a bit out of the box. I had to take a picture of the menu to remember what it was called! It's the last one under the eggs category.

And it was soooo very good!

After that, it still wasn't raining, so we took a walk on the Highline, an elevated park which used to be a railroad. It was beautful, and nice to forget the stench of the NY sidewalks for a while.

After that, we walked to the Shake Shack, a famous burger and shake joint in Madison Sqaure Park. The line was long, but we had nothing pressing to do, so we waited about 45 minutes. I got a black and white shake, and it was delicious! We also saw Taye Diggs in the park, and added bonus.

While we were waiting for Shake Shack, a group was passing out Russian fermented sodas called Kvass. The tastes was similar to kombucha, but worse.

We went kayaking today and it was great! Afterward, we checked out a Bastille day celebration. I caught the train home, and had a very tasty steak dinner, with roasted broccoflower and broccoli, and twice-baked potatoes. What a great end to the weekend!
