Sweat It Out

Hey Bloggies,

Last night's lab BBQ started out innocent enough, a glass of wine, a cookie stuffed cookie:

Some un-pictured pita bread, dip, chips, and grilled vegetables thanks to my boss' wife, who pretty much handled all of the cooking for the night:

Then came the peanut butter pie and more wine, and then when I finally made it home last night, I thought it would be a good idea to have some thermaflu in order to quickly nip a cold I feel coming on...I have big weekend plans and no time for a cold.

Despite the combination of alcohol, sweets, and cold medicine, I somehow managed to wake up at a decent hour, full of energy and ready for a little sweat before heading into lab (crazy right?). I end up doing the Marine Corps Body Rock routine:

Round 1, my scores:

Sandbag Squat (right shoulder) – 11 reps, 11 reps

Plank Jump Push Up – 5 reps, 6 reps

Sandbag Squat (left shoulder) – 9 reps, 10 reps

Plank Jump Push Up – 6 reps, 6 reps

Time Challenge: 3 minutes 57 seconds

Sandbag Mini Squats (right shoulder) – 22 reps, 26 reps

Super Girl Push Ups – 6 reps, 5 reps

Sandbag Mini Squats (left shoulder) – 26 reps, 25 reps

Super Girl Push Ups – 6 reps, 5 reps

Round 2:

Sandbag Squat (right shoulder) – 11 reps, 11 reps

Plank Jump Push Up – 7 reps, 7 reps

Sandbag Squat (left shoulder) – 11 reps, 11 reps

Plank Jump Push Up – 6 reps, 6 reps

Time Challenge: 3 minutes 59 seconds

Sandbag Mini Squats (right shoulder) – 25 reps, 27 reps

Super Girl Push Ups – 6 reps, 6 reps

Sandbag Mini Squats (left shoulder) – 26 reps, 24 reps

Super Girl Push Ups – 6 reps, 6 reps

These routines are really amazing. I've posted about them a few times now but have only really started to dedicate to them during the last month or so and already feel so much stronger. The thought of burpees in the past was just absolute dread but now I can do 30+ no problem.

At first I was resistant to the site. I didn't understand why the instructor, Zuzana, wore such little clothing, and her grunts during the workout seemed like something out of a porn movie. Now I love to see how her muscles work during each exercise and I also find myself grunting during particularly challenging exercises. Further I find the site incredibly motivating and inspirational and I'm excited to check back regularly for new routines.

Later,

Nicole
