Christmas in the City

Hey all-

After all of my Christmas parties, it's been nice to eat a little lighter this weekend. Including this burrito inspired salad consisting of a base of spinach leaves, black beans, sauteed mushrooms, peppers, and salsa, yum!
My cousin also decided to come visit this weekend so I've been playing tour guide for the last 24-hours. Despite the cold and snow today it was great seeing New York all decorated for the holidays!! We hit just about every spot from 34th st to 63rd, walking the entire way!

Macy's holiday window:

Special promotion by Duracell at Times Square-My cousin is riding a bicycle to help generate power for the lights in the 2010 sign when the ball drops on New Years.

I hate to show this picture, but it'll clarify what lights I mean, at least I hope it does!

Rockefeller Center:

F.A.O. Schwarz Toys:

Bloomingdale's Windows, can you tell who this couple is suppose to be?

Yes, it's suppose to be the Obama's, I think Bloomingdales could have done a better job in their likeness, no?

Finally we hit up Dylan's Candy store. I love to go to this place anytime I'm feeling down, the vibrant colors are usually enough to cheer me up, and if not, there is the candy of course!

Oh, and I was so excited when I went to Whole Foods this week and saw the Pumpkin Spice Silk on display. I had intended on doing my shopping at Trader Joe's, but my bags were getting heavy from other purchases so I stopped in Whole Foods. There were so many things on sale this week I went a bit overboard, but finding the Pumpkin Spice made it well worth my shopping splurges. Whole Foods also had the Silk Egg Nog, but after reading the nutritional information I still feel like it would be too heavy for me.

Besides, I've had my taste of Egg Nog this season thanks to Edy's Slow Churned Ice Cream. Is it crazy that I really like this ice cream! The flavor is perfect, not overbearing at all.

Now only if I could find Stoney Fields pumpkin pie yogurt. I'm sure I'm too late for this season, maybe New York City will have caught on by next year.

If you're on the east coast and under a pile of snow, keep warm!

  2. Congratulations on your 50th blog!

There is nothing like Christmas in NY. Macy's windows have always been my favorite! Bloomingdales needs to step up, I almost thought that was PeeWee Herman. If you had not said it was Obama I certainly would not have guessed!

I might try the EggNog icecream!
